House Of Community : Men's Club
Men's Club

Member, North American Federation of Temple Brotherhoods

The purpose of the Men's Club is to serve in cooperation with Beth Tikvah Congregation in stimulating Jewish religious activities; to foster cultural and educational advance-ment amongst its membership, the Congregation and the Jewish people at large; to promote through social intercourse the spirit of comradeship within its midst; to advance the work of Men's Club through affiliation with the National Federation of Temple Brother-hoods and to support the aims and purposes of the Jewish Chautau-qua Society.

The following are some of the programs that Men's Club sponsors in support of the Temple:

Wine and Juice. Men's Club provides wine for the Friday night Kiddush. Also, they provide grape juice for the children under Bar/Bat Mitzvah age and once a month for those celebrating a birthday who are invited onto the bima to participate in the Kiddush.

Bar and Bat Mitzvah Gifts. Men's Club is proud to give each Bar/Bat Mitzvah child a copy of the Holy Scriptures as a remembrance of their achievement and as a reference for learning throughout their lives.

Rosh Hashanah and Yom Kippur Services Ushering. Men's Club wishes everyone arriving at services a healthy and happy new year, checks tickets, distributes prayer books, and assists in collecting food drive bags.

Sukkah Building Men's Club assembles, in rain or shine, the sukkah which the religious school children beautifully decorate. Temple members are welcome to eat meals in the sukkah.

Bartending Men's Club supports Temple functions, such as, auctions, the Chili Cook-off and the Sunday Night Live program by selling wine, beer and soft drinks with profits going to the Temple.

Yellow Candle Program Men's Club distributes Yellow Candles to families of religious school students and to other Temple members and groups to memorialize the Holocaust victimsÖwe will not forget! These candles are lit on Yom HaShoah.

By no means is the Men's Club solely focused on service to the Temple. At monthly activities the men are able to socialize, cultivate friendships, relax and have fun.

Brunch with Speaker The programming committee pre-sents a series of brunches with enlightening speakers. These may be held in the Chaveron room or at an outside location. Specific information about each program is publicized in the Tikvahite and mid month fliers.

Golf Outing The Men's Club hosts an annual scramble golf outing that is open to the entire congregation.
